Best National Lipstick Day Sales 2017

Best National Lipstick Day Sales 2017

There are a lot of made up holidays throughout the year like national pancake day, national ice cream day, even national donut day! However, my favorite is National Lipstick Day which is today, June 29th! Here, I’ve rounded up some of the best lipstick sales so you can get your pout on! Click on the link to access to sale!

MAC: MAC is actually doing TWO deals this weekend. For the first, all you have to do is show up! Go to any of their stores and receive a full-sized lipstick. The Reddit forums have been running wild and it seems how this works will vary by store. Some are using a specific collection, some are handing them out randomly, and some will let you swatch and choose your shade. Call your store ahead of time to find out. MAC is also offering a free Prep + Prime Lip with any $50 purchase online with the code LIPDAY.

Urban Decay: UD is offering 50% off some of their best-selling Vice lipsticks which puts them at $8.50! It’s a small selection, but worth it if you want to stock up on some of the cult classics. Plus, UD has a great rewards program, and if you sign up with my link you start with 10 points out of the gate!

ULTA: Ulta is winning the beauty game as usual with tons of brands and deals on all things lipstick with their online sale. The standouts are 2 for $10 NYX lipsticks, Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks (try Bacca or Rubino!) are only $13.20, and all Revlon lip products are $5! There are also plenty of free gifts with purchase on your favorite high-end brands so go give it a look!

Smashbox: When you buy any lip product from Smashbox today, you can get $5 off AND a free lip bag with promo code KISSME! I really enjoy their Be Legendary Liquid Lipstick in Crimson Chrome and all of the liquid metal shades tbh!

Glossier: And of course, if you’re a new Glossier customer in the US AND Canada, you can get 20% off of your first purchase which includes the sweet flush of a Generation G lipstick. My favorite is Crush, because it’s such a nice hint of pink on my two toned lips which is amazing!

NYX: Buy any Liquid Suede Metallic Lipstick, get a Liquid Suede Cream lipstick free! Also, add any lippie to your bag online and get free shipping!

Too Faced: 15% off any lip product with code KISSKISS

Birchbox: Get a free deluxe Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick when you sign up with the code LIPDAY.

Stila Cosmetics: BOGO Free Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick, no code needed.

That’s all I’ve got for now, but I’ll be updating this post with other deals throughout the day, so keep checking back! Have a great National Lipstick Day!

April 2017 Beauty/Style News

Hey, everybody! After that no buy (which was more like a low buy but oh well), I’m excited for all of the beauty news coming up in April! I’ve picked up some notable sales, collection drops, and more all happening in the month of April!

Fashion News

Forever 21 Sale

  • I’m pleased to announce I’m now part of the Forever 21 affiliate program. I figure it’s not a bad match considering I’ve started buying more things from them (even if fast fashion isn’t the best for the environment). So, I’ll be finding out about some of their sales a few days before they begin and I can give you the scoop! Forever 21 will be having a BOGO Free on Sale Merch from March 30 until April 2nd! Now’s a great time to buy some offseason essentials like coats, hats, and gloves, or you can stock up on cute sunglasses and tee shirts for the summer!

    H&M x Coachella

  • Also, I’m super excited about this year’s H&M x Coachella collection. I’m not a fan of Coachella. I think it’s a really exclusive thing for rich people to run around appropriating too many things at one time. And last year’s collection was very reminiscent of that. Lots of boho and flowing desert motifs with lots of emphasis on Native American culture. I bought my Cat Eye sunglasses from this particular collection and that was it because I couldn’t find anything else that suited me. This year’s collection is a huge step up from last year’s, and it seems like the H&M designers really took a cue to customer responses. There’s a lot of lace, hearts, and stars mixed in with tougher fabrics like denim, and it’s pretty dang cool.

Beauty News

  • Colourpop Cosmetics is having an EPIC Free Shipping sale until 3/31 at midnight! That’s free shipping on everything, no minimum! What’s that you hear? The sound of my wallet crashing and burning 🙂

MAC @ Ulta

  • Of course, you all know I’m super duper happy that there will be MAC at Ulta This May! This brings me one step closer to never shopping at another place for beauty ever again, but darn Glossier and Milk Makeup have got me under their spell…You can begin browsing the collection online April 23, and they will be available to purchase May 7! I’ll keep an eye out for any Platinum early access!

  • There’s a new PatMcGratch Kit on the horizon and it’s called DARKSTAR 006 and is due out April 11! It’s way out of my student budget (at least at the moment) but I have no doubt it’ll sell out quickly. But shoot, I’m just trying to get my hands on the original Metalmorphisis kit.

Ulta 21 Days of Beauty

  • The Ulta 21 Days of Beauty sale is already in full swing, but some of the best deals will be coming during the last week of the sale from April 1-8th! I’m actually waiting until the very last day of the sale (April 8th) to score the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz Pencil for only $10.50! On April 1st you can score the entire Mario Badescu brand for 25% off! So there’s a lot to look forward to!

Too Faced Glitter??

  • Too Faced’s founder Jerrod Blandino announced on March 25th, that a Too Faced Glitter Palette is in the works, but won’t be dropping until about June. You all know I already am married to my Urban Decay Moondust palette, so I’m not dying to get my hands on this, and with Too Faced’s discrepancies between palettes, I kinda can’t wait to see if this will actually be any good.

So that’s the scoop for this month! I’ll add to this (or maybe make another post) if more good stuff comes up. Got any questions? Leave me a comment or you can reach me at any of my socials @thechicmachine!

Guys, it’s that time of year again! Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty will be back September 4th and there are some super great deals this time around! I’m excited because with the new Ulta opening in the next town over, I can finally check out the Benefit Brow Bar promotions! They also have a Clinique bar and a whole section dedicated to Lancome which I could only find online before. I’m going to be purchasing the Urban Decay Revolution Lipgloss in Vice because when I tried it on yesterday at the Grand Opening, I fell in love with it, and with my $5 off coupon it’ll be down to $6! And with my double birthday points next month, I’m going to try and rack up all throughout this sale. What will you guys be buying? Let me know!

Cosmetics Lust List #1

Cosmetics Lust List #1

Julep facial mask

Urban decay eyeshadow

NYX makeup primer
$10 –

This list of cosmetics products dropping into stores this fall (or that already have) that I’m super excited for and want them SO BAD! Includes Julep which is FINALLY getting into Ulta as two super cool sets including the Night Shift Sleeping Mask which is my absolute fave for bed! Also, Maybelline has released another nudes palette with NEONS! Time to let my 14-year-old self loose with the blue eyeshadow! It could be considered a dupe for the Urban Decay Moondust Shadow palette, but this one seems to have more shimmer to it! OF course to make that shimmer stick, I’ll need some glitter primer. NYX’s has gotten so popular in the last 2 months that it’s sold out in most store and can only be found online at NYX’s site or Ulta’s. Ugh. I’ve been trying to find some dupes for it, so I’ll let you know if I do. I hope everyone’s week is getting off to a great start!

Happy Sunday!

Product Review: SNP Animal Panda Brightening Mask Sheet

Happy Tuesday everyone! I hope you made it through your Mondays unscathed. Getting back into the swing of things is always hard after a great weekend, but time to tough it out! Last week, I was feeling similarly stressed, so I busted open one of the sheet masks I purchased during Ulta’s sale. I bought it because I’d seen a couple reviews, and it looked so dang cute! Here’s Ulta’s description on the site:

Animal Panda Brightening Mask Sheet by SNP replenishes drab and rough skin with brightening energy for beautiful and smooth skin. Coconut water with moisturizing effects, paper mulberry, mulberry bark extract, and brightening ingredient niacinamide make skin translucent and invigorated. Coconut water effectively replenishes moisture in the body and contains high levels of essential electrolytes and potassium. It is called the ‘liquid of life’ in its pure and natural form. Made with natural pulp for highly concentrated essence to stay on skin longer. Real Animal Mask has a safe color element that does not stimulate skin, and its safe ingredients and new character design is satisfying in its texture and adds fun for a whole new experience!

Sounds fun, right? I decided to take a tip from some of my favorite K-Beauty bloggers and popped it in the fridge on a hot day to cool off.

Fair warning for you all. This thing has a TON of serum. I mean there was a LOT. It was dripping out of the package, off of my chin, and made the mask slide around until I laid my head back and let it dry up some. There was actually enough left in the packet for me to cover my WHOLE FACE with more serum in the morning. So you are totally getting your $5 worth! SNP has a bunch of other animal masks I’ḿ dying to try, especially the dragon one! You all should go check it out!

I hope you guys are having a fantastic week so far! I head off to DECA Nationals this weekend, so there will be a bunch of business professional looks up on the site! Until then,

Product Review:Leaders 7 Wonders Kalahari Melon Moisturizing Mask

Now that I’ve talked about one mask I did like, let’s talk about one that I didn’t. I had pretty high expectations for this brand,  Leaders. I had read many great reviews about their masks and they were over in the “prestige” section of my Ulta, whose products I always have high expectations for anyway. This was the third mask I tried, and the other two had gone rather splendidly so I was expecting another good time. I was kinda wrong.

My first grievance come with the size of the mask. The other masks I’d tried were slightly large, but nothing unbearable, and it was to be expected. This mask, however, was much too large! At first I thought maybe it was a mask that could go down to the bottom of the chin as well, but the problem wasn’t top to bottom length, but side length. No matter how much I tugged and adjusted, I just couldn’t get it to a comfortable position on my face. So I settled for folding the sides up and wearing it like that.

Most sheet masks contain enough serum for you to wear it 45 min+, and was about how long I wore the other two masks. But after 10 minutes of wearing this mask, the spots under my eyes began to tingle and itch. After 15 minutes, the irritation became unbearable and I had to take it off. There were no visible bumps under my eyes, but that section was very irritated for the next hour or so.

I was very disappointed with my first experience with the Leaders brand, but I may try a different mask of theirs in the near future. Want to try this mask for yourself? You can purchase it at Ulta for $6.

I hope you all enjoyed this post! Have a great day!

Product Review: TONY MOLY I’m Real Avocado Sheet Mask

Oh ULTA. How I love thee. ULTA staked its claim as my go to beauty shop for awhile ago, and my first forray into K-Beauty has been no exception. I purchased 4 masks using my 500 Ultamate rewards points, and I tried this one first. After doing a lot of research, it seems that novices should try the TONY MOLY brand as a start. So I picked up the TONY MOLY I’m Real Avocado Sheet Mask.

The Low Down

The packaging is so cute! The avocado drawing very clearly lets you know what’s in this mask. The instructions were in Korean and English on the back with helpful photos. However, nothing could’ve prepared me for how difficult it was for me to put a mask on for the very first time. It was VERY wet, and I believe that’s part of the benefits (more serum/essence for your buck) but it was unexpected. Then trying to get it to conform to my face was pretty difficult (took me a couple minutes). This was also a thin mask, but the actual sheet held together much better than I thought it would. Once I finally got it on though? Heaven reincarnate! The mask was cool, didn’t slide around the whole time, and gave me an excuse to just lay back and do nothing for half an hour!

When I finally took it off, It covered my face in a layer of leftover essence. Unlike other masks I’ve tried, I just rubbed it into my skin and bam! You’re done! My skin felt exceptionally soft for the next 24 hours, and it became visibly clearer (less blackheads). There was also a lot of essence left over in the packet, and I know a lot of AB (asian beauty) bloggers like to keep that in the fridge for later. However, I wasn’t really concerned about “later” when I had 3 more to look forward too.You can find this mask at ULTA for $3.75, which is a great “treat yo-self” kinda thing.

I hope you all enjoyed this first Mask Madness post! Keep a lookout all month for all things masking and then some!

Happy Hump Day!

Product Review: 7th Heaven Facial Masks

Happy New Year my loyal readers! Let me start this post by saying it is loooonnnngggg overdue. Like, almost a whole year overdue. I bought an assorted 5 pack of Montagne Jeunesse’s facial masks last…March or April, I think. They were on sale at Ulta for like $4 and I was like, “What the heck” and I bought them. Then, I failed to even used the darn things until July. But lordy, were they amazing! I wrote this back in August, but I’ve updated it a little bit with more information and some links, plus a quick video on how to use the peel off masks! Enjoy!

Very Berry was a blend of blueberries and cranberries making an amazing smell! This was like a regular “mud mask” that you applied, it dries, and then you wash it off. It left my skin very refreshed and smooth, but I wasn’t particularly impressed because I had already tried this type of mask before. It was pretty much the same with Strawberry Souffle. Not bad, just average.

Then, I tried the Passion Peel Off (passionflower and pomegranates). It changed my whole outlook on the masking game. First of all, it was the best smelling one out of the entire pack and the only one I bought more of after the fact. And the peeling! Absolutely genius! I do hate the fact that it doesn’t all come off the first time, but it’s just fascinating to see all of those blackheads and dirt sticking up from the peeled off mask. #grossbeauty

After trying the Passion Peel Off, I was really excited to try out the Paw Paw Peel Off (pawpaw and noni fruit). This one stank. Like booty. And it was awful having to leave it on my face long enough to dry and then peel it off. It lingered for like half an hour after too. Yuck! The skin benefits were the same as the Passion Peel, but I wouldn’t recommend that one.

Last, but certainly not least, was the Dragon Fruit Sauna mask. Now, I thought to myself, why did they call it a Sauna mask? A play on words with dragon? Wrong. I tend to slather my masks on quickly so I can get it off my hands, but I wasn’t fast enough for this one. My fingers holding the masks and where I had applied it to my face immediately began heating up. After a minute or two, I was sweating underneath the thing! It was really cool seeing the effect the “sauna” mask had, and this is definitely one I want to try again soon.

All in all, I had a pretty good mask experience, and I would definitely buy most of these masks again (looking at you Paw Paw!)

You can purchase these masks and many other scents and types of masks ( they also have sheet and scrub masks) from your local Ulta, or online at!

Happy Masking!

A Mini Ulta Haul and a Lesson in Rewards Programs

This has probably been the best birthday rewards points wise, since I started actively couponing. I will forever recommend Ulta’s rewards program over Sephora’s because 1) Your points add up to money values, NOT specific products Sephora says you can get, 2) Your rewards are redeemable on anything and everything in the store, 3) Ulta carries drugstore brands as well as prestige brands which makes it easier for smaller purchases to add up to huge rewards! That coupled with the fact that my new house is 5 minutes away from the the nearest Ulta, and I say I’ve got a win win situation. So here’s the breakdown. Many of you may have seen this photo on my Instagram or Snapchat.

Yes, that is 2 free mascaras and a $16 discount on some Butter London lipstick that you see. The best part is, it’s so easy to take advantge of these rewards. The coupon for a free deluxe They’re Real! mascara from Benefit came in this month’s catalogue that I recieve just for being a part of the ULTAmate program. I also get a free birthday gift each year for being in the program. This year it was a sample of Urban Decay’s Perversion mascara ( which was way better than last year’s CK One disaster). Then, I had accumulated over 300 rewards points in the last year for shopping at Ulta, and they were set to expire at the end of the month. Soooo, I grabbed Butter London’s Lippy in La Moss (discounted to $10 thanks to Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty) and then took another $8 off with my points.

All of this made it my quickest trip in and out of Ulta, in just 14 minutes flat. Wonderful, no? Well it didn’t end there.

Another perk of the program is that I get 2x the points during my birthmonth and 5x the points during my anniversary week of joining the program. Get this. I signed up for the program during my birthmonth. So if you play your cards right, during one week of the year, you’re guaranteed 7x the points on anything you buy in the WHOLE STORE. And that includes trips to the Ulta Salon and Nail Bar (and Benefit Brow Bar in some locations). So if you go and get a nice wash and style which retails for $37, you can earn 259 points in one go (which is what I ended up doing 🙂 Thats $8 off anything in the store with some points left over.

Another cool tactic is to watch out for special events they’re holding. The dates will usually appear in the catalogue the month that they’re happening. For instance, over the summer, I got a wash and blowout at the Salon for just $10 since they were promoting the new Living Proof Frizz Free product line. I got a steep discount and a coupon for $10 off anything Living Proof which I eventually used to grab a full size of their Instant Repair cream, and that purchase came with another bag of Living Proof samples!

Lastly, when all else fails, just wait for it. It will eventually go on sale if you just wait and wait and wait. As much as I love makeup, I cannot justify paying  $20 for it. Thus began my dillema of the Smashbox Full Exposure mascara. I used every drop of every sample I’ve owned of that stuff, but I just couldn’t bring myself to pay for a full sized one! Again, 21 Days of Beauty came ro the rescue! 50% off, marking it down to $10. Plus, everything Smashbox branded was given 5x the points that day, and it was still during my birthmonth (although sadly, not my anniversary week). 70 more points right there. So my total amount of points is up to 352, 350 of which are redeemable for $11 off anything in the store.

Absolutely mindblowing. Best part is, these points won’t expire for an entire year (unless I go Platinum which is a totally different post) which means I’ve got plenty of time to save up for something extraordinary. It’s the little things in life right?

Happy Shopping!
