Fall has finally reached Atlanta (sorta)! It’s really cold in the mornings and at night, occasionally dipping into the 40s which I am NOT here for. But it’s also in the 70s during midday! Honestly, this Georgia weather is insane. With the change in weather has come a change in skincare routine. I’m starting to move towards my heavier creams, and generally anything that will keep my skin from drying out. One of the new tools I’ve incorporated into my routine is my Clarisonic Mia 1!
A Clarisonic has been on my wishlist for the longest, and I was going to bite the bullet this holiday season when I was given the awesome opportunity from Her Campus’ InfluenceHer Collective! They partnered with Clarisonic to gift not only the Clarisonic Mia 1 with the original Radiance Brush Head ($129), but also the Acne Brush Head($27), the Deep Pore Brush Head($27), and the Pore & Blemish Gel Cleanser($27). Full disclosure, I did not utilize the Gel Cleanser as it contained 2% salicylic acid which my skin is allergic to.
These items were gifted to me for in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own!
How does Clarisonic work?
I love the compact size of the Mia 1! It’s fun sized and purple, which is my favorite color, which makes it very photogenic, and while that isn’t my number 1 concern, it’s always a bonus! A common misconception about the Clarisonic is that it exfoliates. IT DOES NOT! It actually sonic cleanses. This means that the brush head moves back and forth really quickly which flexes the skin and pushes up water and cleanser deeper into pores. I thought that meant it would be really rough on the skin, but it actually just felt like getting a twice daily massage!
The original Radiance Brush head felt really soft on my skin as opposed to the washcloth I was using previously and it made me feel clean after using it, but not in that obnoxious squeaky clean way (is that just me?). However, the real winner was the Deep Pore Brush Head. My skin is combo oily, so the Deep Pore Brush Head was a bit more dense and really got in there. On the days that I used it, I felt like I was less oily midday through the day than I was previously, and what little texture I had bugging out on my forehead, disappeared after a few days of use, and has stayed smooth since.
My Fall/Winter Skin Routine + Clarisonic
The Clarisonic fits perfectly into my new fall routine, especially at night! I use it with my Glossier Milky Jelly cleanser instead of my regular washcloth. I follow up with my Pixi Glow Tonic, Glossier Supers, the Oridinary Retinol, and finish up with my Glossier Priming Moisturizer Rich. Now, PM Rich is not my favorite night cream (that would be my Julep Night Shift Sleeping Mask), but in the name of my no buy, I’ve been working my way through the jar, so I’m not wasting it. I’m about 3/4 done, and then I go back to my tried and true!
Why Should I Believe You?
One of the biggest things I strive for in this blog is complete and total honesty. I’m not going to lie about something just for money or free product. It goes against the spirit of everything I started this blog for. So I’m going to show you real results! Below is a before and after pic of my skin after a month of using the Clarisonic. Both were taken in front of the same window (albeit it was raining in the before pic), with no skin makeup on.
The best part is, Clarisonic is totally college student budget friendly! I know you’re thinking, dude that thing retails for $129. I’ll save it for my holiday wishlist. However, they actually have payment plans for the Clarisonic (upon credit approval) for as little as 63 cents a day! And if that’s not enough for you, Her Campus is also offering 15% off all devices featured here using the code HERCAMPUS.

We’re also coming up on The Chic Machine’s 4th Blogiversary, which is totally crazy, and I thank all of you guys for helping me get collabs like this one! What kinds of gifts/giveaways would you like to see for this year’s anniversary? You can also leave those comments, and I’ll see ya soon!
