Another Cinderella Story: Prom Style & Makeup

It’s finally here: My Senior Prom. It’s certainly a bittersweet experience, to say the least. When I grew up, I watched a lot of Disney Channel Original Movies (HSM anyone?). Prom is always made out to be the “princess night” for every girl. The “outcast” girls get to feel just as beautiful as the popular ones, usually with one epic transformation scene in between.

Many of you know I’ve had my eye on this Cinderella dress from the Hot Topic collection from 2 years ago. Cindy is my fave Disney princess so it was my dream dress from the start. The top is corset style (I forgot to take pictures of the back!) but it actually zips down the side. It’s the classic Cinderella blue, and even has little pumpkin carriages stitched into it!It’s sold out now, but I managed to track it down in my size back in October! If it restocks (they seem to every few months) it was super affordable at only $65. That’s nothing compared to the hundreds of dollars other girls spend on a dress and I loved twirling around in it!

I really wanted some “glass slipper” type shoes to go with my dress and when I saw this pair I almost died! They were super sequined, and since my dress is short, they would be on display for all to see! They were really tall though, and I didn’t make it very long in them once I got dancing!

I accessorized with more diamond and pearl accessories! The earrings and clutch were thrifted, but I got the nifty choker from Forever21 for $10!

The showstopper of my makeup look is the Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadow palette in Vega plus the NYX Face and Body Glitter in Crystal as an eyeliner. The blue popped with my brown eyes, and I sparkled under the lights all night long! I also used Glossier’s Haloscope highlighter in Moonstone, Boy Brow in Black, and Stretch Concealer in Deep.I lightly dusted on the Bare Minerals matte powder foundation and set with the NYX Matte Setting Spray. I tried to keep my face makeup light because I like to dance and I didn’t want to sweat it all off! Plus, I kept my lip simple, using L’Oreal’s Colour Riche Extraordinaire lip stain in Blushing Harmony.

All in all, I had a really great time styling this look, and I had fun seeing all of my friends in their getups too! I believe I was the only girl wearing a short dress, which makes me feel unique, something I always want to come across in my personal style. Don’t forget you can get 20% off all the Glossier goodies using my link!  I’ll be hanging onto this dress for now and hopefully lots of good memories.

Stay Flawless!
