Product Review: Maybelline's The Rock Nudes

Happy Monday lovelies! I hope you all are enjoying your long weekends! It’s time for another review I’ve been excited to write since I first posted the pics of it on my Instagram: Maybelline’s The Rock Nudes!

Let me start by saying that calling it The Rock “Nudes”, Maybelline is a tad misleading. This palette varies from its predecessors in that there are fewer neutrals, and a lot more shimmery and dark colors that would lend itself to smokey eyes and nights out on the town. It’s more of a “basics” kit for that sort of thing. Now, onto the colors!

I’m a huge fan of the shimmers in this palette! #10 is definitely my favorite! It’s a gold glitter pressed into a brown shadow and when I use it on my eyes, it comes out as a perfect milky gold! Amazing! I’m also Β big fan of #5 because it finds a way to make blue eyeshadow not look bad! It’s navy blue, and while it does have some shimmer in it, it’s a lot less than in the other shimmers, and comes off a a sultry, sophisticated blue. Way better than our middle school escapades with blue eyeshadow isn’it?

The 3 matte browns in this palette (9,4, and 11) are all a little too similar for my taste. While 9 is darker than the others, they’re still so close in shade that I feel a little cheated on how many colors I actually got. There aren’t any overlapping colors between the Rock Nudes and the Blushed Nudes, although #1 and #7 come a bit close.

Overall, I feel that for $10, the Rock Nudes are worth purchasing for the shimmers alone. However, there isn’t as much diversity in colors as before, which can be a tad bit disappointing.

I hope you all enjoyed this review! Keep an eye out later this week for my next reviews on Glossier’s Soothing Face Mist and their brand new Milky Jelly Cleanser! If you want to try them out for yourself, you can get 20% off your first order with my referral link!

Happy MLK Day!
